Durex have released a new iPhone application called ‘Spice Dice’. Unless you’ve been living in a cultural cave in the last 20 years, sex dice have been found in novelty and joke stores up and down the country. The premise is simple. One dice involves a body area. The second has suggestions for manipulating this part. Invariably bought by optimistic teens, flirty thirties and practical jokers, this new app hopes to push the edge of acceptability in the iPhone store.

On the face of it this is a great idea. However when you look a little closer at the target demographic for this, it becomes a little muddier. At what point in a conversation does someone turn around and say ‘Hey.. I’ve got a new app.. want to see?’. Nervous smiles and shuffling of feet surely ensues. Even in the intimacy of a ‘private relationship moment’, it’s surely going to be off-putting.
However, saying that I recently saw my friend proudly wave around an app demonstrating a young buxom girl bouncing quite hypnotically on a treadmill so perhaps this will work after all..
Manchester Design agency Truth has made this application available now.
